ABOUT GEOFFREY

Geoffrey has been teaching yoga as a lifestyle for the last 17 years, learning, practicing, and developing a form of Hatha Yoga, as a healing practice.

Through a committed mentorship with his teacher, Baba, whose practice was called Standing Wave Yoga, Geoffrey helped found, build, and run the Standing Wave Yoga Ashram in Northern California.  In addition, he held retreats at Harbin Hot Springs, where he was a popular instructor.  In class, he makes the practice accessible and challenging to anyone, by empowering students to rediscover their bodies through breath, mindfulness, respect, and simple yogic tools.

He was trained in a form of Jnana Yoga that is a form of spiritual or "life" coaching.  In his sessions, you will explore obstacles to your life process, and learn tools to turn those obstacles into opportunities for self growth.

He continued his education to include massage and bodywork as a way to support students in their practice.  He uses tools from many modalities, his intuitive connection to the body from years of yogic practice, and knowledge of anatomy to co-create a session, often referring to the exploration as "spiritual detective work."

For him, life is an exploration of love, and all of it's expressions.  He enjoys writing about the practice of ordinary love, i.e., exploring what it means to love ourselves and others in an everyday life that contains everyday challenges.

He lives in Northern California with his wife Sama Morningstar, bakes cookies, enjoys art and gardening.
